Friday night was the culmination of the 2nd annual “Anthem Idol” singing competition and it was held at “Summerfest” on the grounds of the Logan Tabernacle. I’m not good at estimating crowds, but there must have been hundreds watching the action-packed event, and hundreds more taking in the Arts Faire. Our 5 finalists: Landon Warrick, Lorisa Pulotu, Sierra Peery, Stefan Mark, and Susan Baker all individually sang the “Star Spangled Banner” in hopes of winning the chance to perform our National Anthem in front of thousands at USU’s Maverik Stadium on July 3rd at “Freedom Fire”.
It was an honor to “Emcee” this great event for the 2nd year, and I sincerely want to thank Holly Fjeldsted and the entire “Freedom Fire” committee, as well as the Logan City Rec. Center, and our judges: Laurie Hart, Jim Reese, Jay Richards, and Jeremy Baer.
Finally a special thanks and “Job Well Done” to all 39 of the talented vocalists who auditioned at “Anthem Idol”. On behalf of 95-9 KLZX and the Cache Valley Media Group we invite you to join us at “Freedom Fire”. Tickets are $8.00 or 6 for $36. All seating is general admission. Tickets are available at the Spectrum Ticket Office at USU, the Cache Valley Visitors’ Bureau, Logan Rec. Center, and the Logan Aquatics Center. Gates open at 7pm on July 3rd and here’s the lineup:
Performances by the 5 “Anthem Idol” finalists, Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband, Patriotic Program, Fireworks courtesy of “Fireworks West International”, and a Concert & Laser Show after the fireworks.
