This is my second year being the “master of ceremonies” at Logan’s “Anthem Idol” competition leading up to this year’s “Freedom Fire” celebration July 3rd at USU’s Maverik Stadium. 40 contestants ages 11 to 65 sang the National Anthem in hopes of advancing to the “Finals” which will be held this Friday night at “Summerfest”. The winner will perform the “Star Spangled Banner” in front of thousands the night of “Freedom Fire”.
Singers from Northern Utah and Southern Idaho have competed weekly since Memorial Day weekend, and we’re down to 5 finalists. It’s been a honor to be involved in this event and the display of talent has been extraordinary, and heart-warming. The show of support by family and friends has lent to a genuine “Patriotic” atmosphere that’s been contagious.
I sincerely want to thank Holly Fjeldsted the producer of “Freedom Fire”, and the entire committee for letting me be a part of this wonderful community event. Special thanks to our judges: Laurie Hart, Jim Reese, Jay Richards, Jeremy Baer, and Sarah Huff. To each and EVERY contestant I say “Job well done” and thanks for your participation.
“Freedom Fire” tickets are $8.00 or 6 for $36. All seating is general admission. Tickets are available at: the Spectrum Ticket office at USU, the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau, the Logan Rec Center, the Logan Aquatic Center or at www.loganutah.org/pr
Gates open at 7pm and the program includes:
Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband, a tribute to our Veterans, Fireworks provided by Fireworks West International, and a concert and “Laser” show after the fireworks.
Don’t miss Northern Utah’s biggest and best “Independence Day” celebration, and hope to see you there.
