From 2006-2008 I was part of the Utah Jazz Broadcasting team and getting to meet and work with Hot Rod Hundley was like a dream come true. Being a disc jockey and sportscaster I listened to him not only as a Jazz fan, but I wanted to learn from him as well. Rod’s love for the game, the Jazz, the fans, and his passion for broadcasting was second to none. To watch him call a game was “magical” because he made it look easy, which it’s NOT trust me. The microphone was his “prop and friend”, and like everyone knows “Hots” was never at a loss for words. We had some great conversations on team flights to games, and he loved talking about his playing days and telling stories about the guys he played with and against.
As the tributes pour in from all over globe “Jazz Nation” mourns his loss, but his voice will forever “Resonate”, and we’ll always remember the “Voice” of the Utah Jazz.
